LUX AETERNA
On her sophomore album Lux Aeterna, Corin explores the idea of sound as a sentient presence. Meaning“eternal light” in Latin, the title references György Ligeti’s choral work of the same name, famously used in 2001: A Space Odyssey during the discovery of the monolith on the moon.
Drawing inspiration from Ligeti’s use of micropolyphony - where clusters of sound slowly merge into amorphous, cloud-like formations, Corin applies granular synthesis to warp samples beyond recognition. Strings and vocal harmonies detune, dissolve and re-emerge as shifting swarms, creating textures that feel alien and unstable.
Coming from a background in theatre and sound design, Corin approaches sound as gravitational: levitating, collapsing and dispersing into space, hovering between disintegration and eternity.
